$300-$500 might be a tad bit too much to splurge on a tee just because of the logo it comes attached with. That, or you’re someone who likes playing around with words or puns – from Givenchy to Giraunchy or Balenciaga to Ballinciaga.
If so, you’re just like indie designers C.O.I aka Conflict of Interest. COI comes across cheekily like in their “about us” section at http://www.coi-nyc.com/ where they state :
“Founded in Early 2012, Conflict Of Interest or C.O.I. is a fictitious, convert goverment agency charged with confiscating “unlicensed” designer goods. Its agents raid warehouses and shipping containers worldwide to obtain the few items that have appeal, the rest are destroyed. Despite their origins the selected items that remain are of the highest quality and redistributed through proper channels. Simply put they operate in secret so that you can stunt in public.”
They have an entire line of t-shirts with emblazoned words like Giraunchy and Ballinciaga, which are a play of the branded names. These t-shirts are limited edition and comes at a fraction of the price of the brands.
Despite that, the t-shirts still comes with the tangible benefits of the brand aesthetic, legacy and hype but doesn’t come across as a cheap knock-off.
