Windowsil In The Woods
Located just a stone’s throw away from Lavendar MRT station, Windowsil in the woods has gotta be one of the coziest and prettiest cafe around. Upon stepping into the cafe, I felt like I had stepped into a fairytale style cafe – there were wooden trees, a huge stuffed bear and the ambiance was just great.
We were spoilt for choice initially, but the friendly service staff introduced us to the variety of cakes there and we opted for the Banana Almond Brittle Pie and S’mores pie.
The Banana Almond Brittle Pie was sweet enough on its own, but the crispy salty caramel and nuts really accented it well, though it did taste a bit like the Garetts caramel popcorn (which I loooved by the way. I’m a sucker for sweet stuff.) We thought that the crust was a little too thin however. Could have used a little more of it.
Made of marshmallows and milk chocolate with a thick dark chocolate fudge topping, the S’mores pie is a savory delight. Chewy and thick, it was certainly chocolaty enough. Again, we thought that the crust might have been a little too thin. The marshmallow made up for it though, as it held a hint of roasted fragrance. Topped with home-made graham crackers, it was delicious.
The tea was decent as well and the service staff was really attentive – all Alvin had to do was look up, and the service staff appeared with a glass of ice, almost as if they had read his mind.
All in all, it was a delightful experience.
